A ring final circuit is the most common wiring arrangement for domestic socket outlets in the UK. Cables run from the consumer unit, around a ring of sockets, and return to the same way — creating a loop. This allows a larger load to be shared between the cable runs. Spurs can be added from sockets on the ring. Radial circuits are an alternative increasingly used for kitchen and specialist circuits.
