Faults

Why does my circuit breaker keep tripping?

A circuit breaker trips to protect against overload, short circuits, or earth faults. Common causes include too many appliances on one circuit (overload), a faulty appliance causing a short circuit, or a damaged wire causing an earth fault. If a breaker trips repeatedly, stop using that circuit and call a qualified electrician. Do not tape the breaker in the on position.
