Consumer Units

What is an RCBO and do I need one?

An RCBO (Residual Current Breaker with Overcurrent protection) combines the protection of an MCB (overcurrent) and RCD (earth fault/electric shock) in a single device. Modern consumer units use individual RCBOs per circuit, meaning a fault on one circuit trips only that circuit rather than a whole bank. This is the gold standard for domestic electrical protection and is included in our consumer unit replacements.
